homemade apple sauce
In Sweden people really enjoy eating apple sauce (äppelmos), which I tasted the first week I got here! I fell in love with this amazing sauce, which can be used in every meal. With cereal, with bread or even with meat! So I figured why not make my own, which would contain no preservatives and no sugar??? Below you will find the ridiculously simple recipe for a deliciousness that can change your eating habits!
Ingredients:
3 apples (granny smith style)
1/3 cup of water
sweetener of your choice or not sweetener at all (I used 1 tbs of maple syrup)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 or more tsp cinnamon
1 tbs fresh lemon juice
Instructions:
Place all your ingredients in a pot. Stir well. Bring to a boil on high heat, then turn to low and cover. Maintain a low simmer for 30 minutes or until the apples are completely soft and cooked through. Once fully cooked, remove from heat. Use a hand blender to mash the sauce and that's it! I prefer a smooth texture.
